Twelve painted rocks
Placed along the trail
Slowing me down and drawing me in.
I envision each artist at work
Decipher each painting’s message
Wonder at each rocks’ placement choice.
Exiting the path - feeling fulfilled
An intended lone stroll
Heartened by a dozen companions.
Prompted by dVerse host Lisa to write a Quadrille (44 words) incorporating some form of the word twelve..
Jennifer, your poem gives me the warm fuzzies. Some might say those painted rocks were randomly there, but I know better. You needed to be, “Heartened by a dozen companions.” and they showed up for you ❤

I love when the unexpected touches my day. It is always worth slowing down for. You captured this in your poem. I especially like your ending,
“An intended lone stroll
Heartened by a dozen companions.”
