I come upon a miniature mushroom
standing on the forest floor
ignoring my presence.
Without invitation
I sit beside the mushroom
expecting some magical moment.
Shouldn’t there be a diminutive door
for the little gnomes
that must live inside?
The moss matted yard
provides the perfect cushion
for their tiny tumbling toddlers.
Or, perhaps it’s a rest stop
for traveling fairies
taking tea in the verdant garden.
The magnificent mysterious mushroom
sits in serene silence
while my imagination wildly wonders.
dVerse Meeting the Bar: Triversen, hosted by Merril.
W3 Prompt #121: Wea’ve Written Weekly poet of the week, Selma, prompts us to write on the theme of “beauty and perpetuity of the natural world.”
I love this–exactly how my thoughts have gone when seeing some mushrooms. Your last stanza is perfect! Thank you for writing to the prompt.

This is a delightful triversen Jennifer. I love the idea of sitting beside a mushroom waiting for a magical moment, like Alice in Wonderland. Psychedelic mushrooms might produce gnomes and fairies!

Thank you, Kim! Haha! Unfortunately, I didn’t have any magic mushrooms to unlock the secrets of my mysterious mushroom. 😊

You may not have seen gnomes or fairies, but there was plenty of magic. I’m glad you shared it here.

Triversen. I’ve never written one. Read the details at dVerse on how to do it one day to follow your poem better. Imagist!! This sure is and realistic at the same time. I believe in fairies and gnomes 👏🏽 they exist in the real world all around us. And I’m glad you brought them to the W3 prompt.
The mysterious mushroom, sitting serene needs no more analysis, it just is; like you sitting there not being bothered by it. And now there’s two of us sitting by it, surrendering/letting our imagination wildly wander. Lovely poem. Thanks for participating.
