Mysterious Mushroom

I come upon a miniature mushroom
standing on the forest floor
ignoring my presence.

Without invitation
I sit beside the mushroom
expecting some magical moment.

Shouldn’t there be a diminutive door
for the little gnomes
that must live inside?

The moss matted yard
provides the perfect cushion
for their tiny tumbling toddlers.

Or, perhaps it’s a rest stop
for traveling fairies
taking tea in the verdant garden.

The magnificent mysterious mushroom
sits in serene silence
while my imagination wildly wonders.

  1. This is a delightful triversen Jennifer. I love the idea of sitting beside a mushroom waiting for a magical moment, like Alice in Wonderland. Psychedelic mushrooms might produce gnomes and fairies!

  2. Triversen. I’ve never written one. Read the details at dVerse on how to do it one day to follow your poem better. Imagist!! This sure is and realistic at the same time. I believe in fairies and gnomes 👏🏽 they exist in the real world all around us. And I’m glad you brought them to the W3 prompt.

The mysterious mushroom, sitting serene needs no more analysis, it just is; like you sitting there not being bothered by it. And now there’s two of us sitting by it, surrendering/letting our imagination wildly wander. Lovely poem. Thanks for participating.
