A Choka: Fig Harvest

Ripened finally
Time for harvesting is now
All at once it comes
Way too much of a good thing
Creativity
Is required in the kitchen
A love-hate relationship

Abundance of figs
Hang heavily on the tree
A curse and reward
Consumed fresh, dried, stewed and baked
Perhaps I should learn to can

  1. Hehe! Here it will be tomatoes! We will have buckets of them and I’ll be forced to make sauce, stewed, and whole tomatoes in jars and some frozen in double freezer bags! Of course the alternative is to give them away but that usually involves a trade for zucchini!!

  2. I love figs- fresh and dried, in milkshakes, dry fruit salad, salads and plain. I like them as long as I don’t think how they come about :). Lovely poem on figs. Do they grow in your garden?
