Nature’s Playground

Earth
Our home
Magical
Mysterious
Natural playground
Available to all
Step away from distractions
If only to ponder the tree
An undeniable connection
Yet we search elsewhere for what we know not

Cherish

Ghosts of Christmases past
Visit this season
Memories of love and loss
Joy and pain
Reminding to cherish those
Who still remain

Berating Besty

Belligerently and bombastically she berates her best friend
Excessively emphasizing her erratic views
Reluctantly she rescinds her repugnant and regrettable rhetoric
Anger abated and abundant arrogance in check
Traitorous tangent turns to watchful wonder
Incredibly impressed by her imperturbable friend
Neutral and nonplussed throughout the nonsensical tirade
Genuinely grateful for her generous patience and compassion

Berating besty stubbornly persists in behaving badly
Egotistical and embittered she emphatically explicates
Surely she will soon stop and surrender the absurdity
Ten tumultuous minutes of torturous harangue
Yearning for the incessant yapping to yield

For the Love of Pants

For the love of fresh coffee
Clumsy movement while groggy
Spilled coffee beans on the floor
Will get some at the bookstore

For the love of a new book
Out the door for a quick look
It’s at the local bookstore
A release I can’t ignore

For the love of god I pray
Nobody sees me this way
As I rushed from the shower
I forgot to don trousers

Winter Skies

Winter nights
Firelight is nice
But those clear starry skies
Outdoors entice
Despite the cold

Eugi’s Moonwashed Weekly Prompt – Writer’s Choice*

Brown Thrasher

Curious brown bird
Striking eyes colored yellow
Pops up from the bush
And rests there quite mellow

Back into the thicket
It thrashes about
The shrubbery wobbles
The bird pops back out

It flies to a tree
And a few songs it croons
From a large repertoire
Of improvised tunes

Splendid Acceptance

A splendid day
To gather thoughts astray
Feel tension melt away
Acceptance of self

Gaze out across the land
Sense the world in your hands
A moment to understand
Acceptance of others

Pale Beauty

Pale evening primrose
weathers the fickle desert
flower in the wild

Cee’s FOTD – December 6, 2024

Colleen, if you happen to read this, primrose is my kigo word. 😁

An Artist Can

An artist can
Bring the inanimate alive
An artist can
With intuition or grand plan
Make a fleeting moment survive
Catch its essence and watch it thrive
An artist can
