Cee’s Flower of the Day Challenge (FOTD)
Books and Poetry
A photo cannot capture the caress of a gentle mountain breeze. Nor can it produce the sound of birdsong echoing through the valley. It cannot release the perfume of wildflowers that dot the meadow or fill lungs deep with fresh crisp air. It is simply a chapter in a much larger story.
See the fog roll in
over mountain and meadow
dewdrops rest on skin

The light sits low in the sky
On the train fresh tears I cry
A brief hello… a sad goodbye
Still the sun rises and sets

Ovi Poetry Challenge 59: LIGHT
At the farmers market
Fresh produce have we
Organic options too
Fruits and vegetables
Oh so good for you
Nutrition at its finest
Comes at a hefty price
But defrays the cost of disease
Which really is quite nice

So, I cheated a bit… I love the thrill of finding and photographing birds in the wild, but I couldn’t resist “capturing” these black-crowned night herons in an aviary at Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina. They are native to the area.

Tantalizing scents
Mingle with ocean breezes
Garlic and basil
Waft from balconies ajar
Signaling time for dinner

They float on vast oceans
rivers and lakes
Glide smooth on calm waters
or leave behind wakes
Shoreside observers
find themselves feel
the gravitational pull
of a boat’s appeal

Terri’s Sunday Stills: #Float with Me
Butterfly magnet
pretty golden coneflower
outshining the sun

Smoldering heat bakes
Clothes strewn leaves sweat beaded skin
Hope for a cool breeze
