Shhhh…
A moment of peace;
I take in the smell of the brackish water;
A little taste of mud and salt upon my lips.
I see you looking;
Eyes - shades of blue, green, brown, violet, and amber;
Contentedly rooted at the river’s shoreline.
Kindred water souls;
Born of purity and in seek of wisdom.
Taking some time to reflect upon the water.
Becoming fluid.
Here - acceptance flows along with the current,
And judgment swiftly vaporizes into mist.
Prompted by #TankaTuesday Weekly #Poetry Challenge No. 323, 6/6/2023 and Twiglet #328.

by Jaume Plensa. Newport, Jersey City.
Haiku:
Ubiquitous hush
As blue water laps the shore
Pure tranquility
A lovely poem. Fluid and calming.

Very nice… I love the color blue. Did you add a syllabic form to your freestyle poem? I know you’re new to this, so here’s a little bit to help you out. Here are the forms: https://wordcraftpoetry.com/tanka-tuesday-poetry-cheat-sheet-for-tanka-tuesday-poetry-challenges/. We all use a syllable counter to write with. I like this one: https://www.traveldailylife.com/syllables/. If you need some extra help, let me know. I’m happy to help. 🩵

Thank you, Colleen! Yes, the syllable count for each three line stanza is 5, 11 and 12. Any help is always appreciated.😀

We use forms in this challenge. So, if you write a poem that doesn’t have a syllabic form, we consider that to be a freestyle poem. Then, my dear friend, you need to add a poem from the list I suggested. Syllabic poetry is all about county syllables. 💜

I just had to do the same thing with my own poem. It happens. 🩷
