Hotel Hunt

Assessing my surroundings
An unfamiliar intersection
This city is astounding
And I’ve wandered without direction

I’ll just hail a taxi
Explain where I want to go
I hop onto the back seat
And admit that I don’t know

It’s one of those hotels
An old building by the river
The taxi he propels
With a promise to deliver

I hear the driver chuckle
As we reach the riverfront
Consider this a puzzle
A game of “Hotel Hunt”

For the hotels here are numerous
And many look the same
My dead phone would find this humorous
As only it would know the name

The driver’s eyes show doubt
As back and forth we ride
“The bridge!” I suddenly shout
“It’s on the other side.”

I thank him for his kindness
And across the bridge I bound
But the hotel I left mindless
Remained lost and never found

I am at the airport preparing to travel overseas. Hoping this does not happen during my travels… 😁
