By the river a lazy lunch
It’s mid-morning so more like brunch
The mice don’t care the time of day
Pack up the food and move elsewhere
But river otters find me there
Or are they giant rats at play?
Nutria I am told they’re called
As up the bank their bodies crawl
Chasing dogs and people away.
Prompted by Murisopsis – “Looking for Scavengers”.
“Write a Nove Otto referencing mice and rats.” I realize I neglected to make the eight syllable counts per line isosyllabic (except for one).😉

This made me smile! I like nutria and they wouldn’t make me go away… Though if one was charging me I might backup! Very cute poem and it is effective despite the syllable count! (sometimes it is better to get the creativity flowing than the form exactly right)!! ❤

The nutria are really cute! They were after the food people were feeding to the ducks and would not be deterred in their efforts. Thank you for the challenging prompt (even though I didn’t get it quite right)! 😊
