Black Rat Snake

It cautiously creeps through green grass
Sleek skin glistening black in bright sun
Flicking forked tongue sensing its surroundings
Oblivious to the reaction of onlookers
A gamut of emotions from reverence to terror

  1. Oh gosh, I don’t like snakes. When I was young, living in a desert area, I had several encounters with rattlesnakes. I know some snakes are harmless, but I still don’t like them. ☹️
