Tree Swallow

Black shadow set against morning sun;
flitting, flapping, flying
in my direction.

A glint of blue
before fleeing skyward.

Swirling, soaring, swooping,
skimming the pond
by which I stand.

Looping, lifting, landing
in a nearby tree.

W3 Prompt #108: Wea’ve Written Weekly poet of the week, Suzanne, prompts us to: “Compose a poem that conveys ‘Movement’, using repetition to move your ideas and imagery forward. You may use repetition in many different ways – repeating sounds, syllables, words, phrases, lines, etc.”

  1. Your use of alliteration and the form of your poetry captured me. Wonderful imagery, I was there in the moment with the movement, and at the word ‘tree’ I felt myself stop – waiting, wanting to feel the take off again – really nice done Jennifer
