Mule Deer

Tangled in civilization

Persevere with conservation

  1. I’ve always thought of these as big rabbits and the picture of the ears on that last one…Western Washington is almost an ecological island and there weren’t rabbits until they were introduced. Places like Vashon Island, where I grew up, has a smaller variety of mule deer that seems to fill that ecological niche. So far as I know the small rabbits that were not here 30 years ago and have become prevalent here in West Seattle have not made it to the island. Haven’t figured out how to manage the ferry system yet I guess. The deer can swim across from Kitsap.
