In human foibles we focus
The people adore
An inexperienced boater
Yes! Our audience wants… Additional
coverage of those who fail
But then not wanting to see harm?
Though videos go viral
When we pull the… Sirens
rush to the scene
Police boats flashing, guards of the coast
Death defying rescues
Infrequent at… Usual
footage of near misses and
The scantily dressed on extravagant yachts
Jet skis and pontoons frequently
Exiting the bay without fore… Consideration
W3 Prompt #151: Wea’ve Written Weekly poet of the week, Jaideep, prompts us to write: “‘The Almost Poem’… a poem that feels like it’s almost something—but not quite.”
Videographers set up at Haulover Inlet in Miami to feature boating videos on their YouTube channel. The inlet can be quite rough at times, exiting the northern end of Biscayne Bay into the Atlantic Ocean. The videographers use high tech camera and drone footage to capture key moments on the inlet.

We are a nation of gore hunters aren’t we. All that natural grandeur and they are waiting for a tragedy.

One of the dark sides of human nature.

Is that where the cruise ships enter and exit? People love to see the mistakes and foibles of others. I hate to see the shows that show people getting hurt, even if it seems funny to them. I don’t like watching people fall or walk into things. Some call it practical joking with some of it but it makes me cringe!

No, this a smaller inlet between the cruise ship ports of Miami and Fort Lauderdale. I also steer away from those shows.

Jenn, this flows like waves—rising, almost cresting, then pulling back. 🌊 The tension of near misses feels so alive! 🚤🎥
Much love,

While I get that people find these happenstances entertaining, I don’t understand how anyone can find this sort of thing enjoyable to watch. I did enjoy how you formatted this poem though, showcasing the near misses.

Thank you, Nicole! I enjoy watching the boats and the people having a good time, but not the mishaps and not on a screen.

Life is only spontaneous when we capture it on film….

Jen this reminded me of that song “Sweet Violets” which is written as a ‘censored’ rhyme. You did a beautiful job!!
