Harmonoia

My arms reach toward the sky
Like branches of a majestic tree
Blessings counted on each green leaf
Kindness and compassion ooze like oxygen
Gratitude sits at the forefront
Harmonoia plays in the background
As seasons will inevitably change
Vibrant greens destined to turn brown
Good fortunes doomed to wither and die
Only strong roots remain insulated from dark days
I plant mine deep in the nurturing soil
Fretfully awaiting the inescapable adversity

  1. Brilliant use of the prompt. As your verse began my first thought was – OMG then I must be a cactus! but then as the verse progressed and the sense of dread began to seep in-I was able to relax and realize- it is not just me that is forever waiting for the dark underbelly of life to raise its ugly head.

  2. Hehe! Jen, I’ve spent way too much time “waiting for the other shoe to drop”! Your poem captures the dread and the certainty that there will be a touch of chaos, confusion, or conflict eventually!
