Cotton candy clouds
Dress violet predawn sky
Venus slowly fades
I, but a mere speck of dust,
Gaze out the kitchen window

The last two line are very sad

I didn’t intend for it to be sad — instead to express the feeling of insignificance (which I guess is a bit sad) in the grand scheme of the universe outside my window. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 😊

Jen, this feels so peaceful—like you captured a quiet moment just for yourself. The image of “cotton candy clouds” in the predawn sky is perfect.

I love the juxtaposition of Venus with “I, but a mere speck of dust.” I often think of myself as a dust bunny. Humans are so fragile. There is so much beauty outside the window.
