Much reminiscence
Triggered by evening showers
Smell of petrichor
Touch of early autumn breeze
Transports me back to childhood
The true art of memory is the art of attention. *
Lakeside wandering
Vociferous bullfrogs croak
Mist covered mountains
Bittersweet farewells proclaimed
As summer slyly retreats

I love the layout of your quadrille, Jennifer, with the Samuel Johnson quotation isolated in the centre, holding the balance of the stanzas. The scent of petrichor and the touch of an autumn breeze make me nostalgic too. And the end of summer is sly, as if it’s sneaking out the door.

Jen, this is a pair of wonderful poems -definitely got the memories wrapped up! Here summer isn’t slyly exiting, she’s picked up her skirts and is running at breakneck speed yelling a warning to any who will listen!
