I have quite the problem you see
As there is no head atop me
Well, I started the duel
(I know I’m a fool)
He lopped off my head
But I find I’m not dead
The red Hunter’s Moon bewitched me.
I managed to stay on my horse
(He is prone to canter off course)
Dismount I cannot
So forever I trot
On the back of a steed
That pays me no heed
A cruel retribution
This failed execution
The round Hunter’s Moon mocks me.
Though I have found delight
In causing a fright
As I ride through each town
Turn it upside down
Consolation I reckon
I’ve become quite the legend
The sly Hunter’s Moon applauds me.

Nicely done! I like the humor in this.
“He lopped off my headBut I find I’m not dead”
I thought of song Tom Rush sings called, “Making the Best of a Bad Situation.” 😊

You made me smile Jennifer. I can really feel the rider’s personality through your words. And I like how you changed the words slightly in each refrain to illuminate the meaning. (K)

Nice way to weave in all those prompts. I smiled at the hunter’s moon in this one. The humor lightened the mood.

Jennifer, your poetic pacing reminded me of the canter of the horse! This is superbly written! I love the perfect haiku at the end. 💜
